Laura Kajander

Laura Kajander has a strong background both as a modern and baroque violist in solo, chamber music, and orchestral settings. She studied in Salzburg (Austria) and worked as a freelancer for many years, until she discovered her passion for arts management. She is currently the general manager of the Finnish Baroque Orchestra (FiBO) based in Helsinki (Finland), where she organizes everything from large symphonic concerts to intimate evenings of chamber music. During her time as the manager, she has not only built a stable and efficient organisation, she has also helped the orchestra expand its activities in Finland and abroad. FiBO is an innovative, active and high-quality ensemble which currently presents approximately 100 projects per year, including concerts, educational projects and other activities.

Beside viola performance and her managerial work with FiBO, Laura Kajander has created the Encanto Festival in Kauniainen (Finland), aimed at increasing the cultural exchange between artists from different countries. At the moment, the festival works especially closely with German partners such as Georg Kallweit and others.

With FiBO and Encanto, Laura Kajander is very devoted to exploring different types of cultural exchange: the importing and exporting of ideas and experiences through artistic collaboration, which she finds important and interesting for the cultural and human development of modern-day audiences.
